Tough As Nails

nikki-haley-black-dress

Kathleen Parker describes in a recent Washington Post article what happend to Nikki Haley, Republican candidate for Governor of South Carolina, after speaking at the state Republican Convention this year.

“Haley reached to shake hands with Chairman Katon Dawson. He placed a rusty nail in the palm of her hand and said:

‘Do you see what this is? Get ready. . . . because this is what you are going to have to be to get through it.”‘

Haley, a first generation American, is reaching superstar status in a state in which GOP leaders desperately need redemption.

Although she is best known for fiscal conservatism, Haley is unapologetically pro-life; committed to fighting any infringement upon 2nd Amendment rights; an aggressive tax-cutter; and a believer in the importance of government transparency.

When I say that she is a believer in transparency, I don’t mean that she preaches accountability, while loading bills with pork or fighting measures to introduce a roll-call vote. Haley is refreshingly committed to transparency–a belief that has already resulted in her removal as chair of the banking subcommittee.

Haley observed that fewer than 10% of all votes were on the record and took action by drafting a bill aimed at correcting the situation. House leadership warned her that such actions could cost her, and it did; but by sticking to her guns, Haley showed South Carolinians that she would fight for integrity in government–even at great personal expense.

She has even made this issue a cornerstone of her campaign. On her website she says:

“As Governor, I will push for every single vote on the record, for all taxpayer dollars being listed online, for real income disclosures by all legislators, and for term limits. When our elected officials know that the people can see what they are doing it will change the way they conduct business and the policy in this state will begin to move in a direction that we can all be proud of. I have fought and worked to bring accountability and transparency to government, and I won’t stop until sunlight shines on every part of the government process.

How refreshing is that?

NOW Is the Time to Take Action Against “Safe Schools” Czar

kevin-jennings-exposed

More than four dozen members of congress have signed a letter urging President Obama to oust “Safe Schools” Czar, Kevin Jennings.

I will try to summarize the reasons in as concise and PG13-rated manner as possible; but please forgive some of these explanations. If our President hadn’t granted a Czarship to this individual, we wouldn’t have to go here.

First, a quick explanation of what is meant by “safe schools”. You may be thinking to yourself that a “safe schools” czar is a great idea–after all, bullying and other forms of school violence are on the rise. It wouldn’t hurt to bring in an expert who can develop new strategies for dealing with these issues.

The only problem?

That’s not what the Obama administration means by “safe schools”. A “safe school” is a school that gives special protections to certain privileged groups of students, namely homosexuals.

So that is basically Jennings’ job in a nutshell. He was essentially brought in to introduce the homosexual agenda to American schoolchildren and, as you will see, he is uniquely qualified to do so. God help us.

Here’s some info. on Jennings:

- He’s the founder of GLSEN (Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network)–a group that was recently caught teaching 14-year-olds how to perform various sexual acts including oral sex tips. You can take my word for it or see the video and read more details here.

-On Friday Scott Baker of Breitbart TV conducted an in-depth report of Kevin Jennings, which included a list of reccomended books featured on GLSEN’s website that can be ordered by teachers or parents.

Here’s what Baker had to say about the books:

“We were unprepared for what we encountered. Book after book after book contained stories and anecdotes that weren’t merely X-rated and pornographic, but which featured explicit descriptions of sex acts between pre-schoolers; stories that seemed to promote and recommend child-adult sexual relationships; stories of public masturbation, anal sex in restrooms, affairs between students and teachers, five-year-olds playing sex games, semen flying through the air. One memoir even praised becoming a prostitute as a way to increase one’s self-esteem. Above all, the books seemed to have less to do with promoting tolerance than with an unabashed attempt to indoctrinate students into a hyper-sexualized worldview.”

Here are some of the most offensive excerpts from these books which include references to sex among first-graders, teenagers looking for gay sex in mall bathrooms, and a depiction of children watching a gay sexual encounter.

Some people get locked up for child porn, others get promoted to high-ranking Czarships, making $273k a year. There’s no excuse for this.

-Jennings is also a proud member Act Up!–the group of violent gay activists who famously stormed St. Patrick’s Cathedral in 1989, throwing condoms in the air and unveiling a pornographic image of Jesus. It was even uglier outside where some protestors held up violence-inducing signs that read, “Eternal life to Cardinal John O’Connor NOW!”

While these revelations only scrape the surface, they should be enough for us to channel our disgust and outrage into action.

Here’s what you can do:

-Call the Secretary of Education, Arne Duncan at 1-800-872-5327. Press 3 to get a human being on the phone, and then give them a piece of your mind. They will enter your comments into a database for Secretary Duncan. Leaving your name and state is optional.

-Go to www.stopjennings.org. At the pull down menu, choose your state and you will get the name of your state Superintendent. You can call and email. There is a form letter under their contact info. that you can fill out in less than a minute.

-Click here to donate to Family Research Council. They are the biggest and best organization at promoting family values and taking action against policies that threaten our children. If you can’t donate right now, sign up for their e-newsletter so you’ll be kept up-to-date on the issues.

-Call your State Representatives. You could even call the offices of those who have already signed the letter (Duncan Hunter, Doug Lamborn, Steve King, Joe Pitts, Darrell Isa among others) to thank them for standing on the sides of parents.

-Call your Senators

-Call your Governor

This isn’t about political or religious affiliations at all. It’s really about whether or not we as parents will insist on preserving our right to be the arbiters of morality and values in our children’s lives or whether we will sit idly by while the government pushes us aside in an attempt to indoctrinate our kids with their morals and values.

As Toby Keith once said, “She didn’t say ‘No’, she said “Hell no!’”

This guy has got to go!

South Carolina’s Shady Governor To Undergo Ethics Probe

A state ethics commission announced today that they have probable cause to investigate Mark Sanford on “several violations” that they will not disclose; but probably have something to do with the following:

According to the AP:

“the governor violated bans on using state airplanes for personal and political purposes; opted for expensive first-class or business-class seats – actions that apparently violated rules requiring lowest-cost travel; and failed to disclose on ethics forms flights he took on private planes owned by donors and friends.”

He is also at risk of being impeached for, what some SC state legislators characterize as, “bringing extreme dishonor and shame” upon the state of SC.

His wife, Jenny, has also made news with her endorsement of state rep. Nikki Haley for Governor. This is particularly interesting considering that Haley withdrew much of her support for Mark Sanford after news of his affair broke. Serves him right.

According to Furman University political scientist, Danielle Vinson:

“Some folks are questioning if (Haley’s) a credible candidate, but Jenny Sanford carries some weight. It sends a signal (to Sanford supporters) that you might not be wasting your vote.”

On a less serious note, Gawker credits Sanford with coining the best euphemism of the year when he told aides he was “hiking the Appalachian trail”.

More:
-They’re back! The most embarassing love letters. Ever.
-…on a classier, more wholesome note, some are suggesting that Jenny Sanford, a former Wall St. investment banker, may have a bright political future herself.
-Barbara Walters got the exclusive interview with Jenny Sanford that will air Dec 9

Crist vs. Rubio

It’s a tough week to be Charlie Crist.

The election results seem to indicate a lack of voter tolerance for “moderate” waffling politicians. Crist happens to be one of those.

On top of that, he claimed Wednesday that he didn’t support President Obama’s stimulus package.

This video seems to indicate otherwise:

Adding to his woes is Marco Rubio.

Rubio will face off with Crist in the Senate primary. He is wildly popular in Florida–a bold tax cutter and unapologetic social conservative.

On top of that, he has a fascinating story to tell. He was born to Cuban immigrants. His mother worked as a maid and his father was a bartender.

He served as City Commissioner for West Miami before being elected to the House of Representatives for the 111th District in a special election.

In this interview with Fox News he explains why Republicans shouldn’t succumb to the “if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em” attitude:

Plus, he’s got a cute family. Never hurts:

More:
-Here is analysis from USA Today.
-Today the FRC gave him their endorsement.
-The NRSC says it won’t spend anymore money on Crist’s campaign.

NJ Voters Reject the Politics of Personal Destruction

Chris Christie’s Gubernatorial win in NJ is a big, big deal.

While it’s exciting that he has unseated a Democrat incumbent in a typically liberal-leaning state; this election is groundbreaking for a different reason–Christie showed that you can still win while choosing not to participate in the mud-slinging.

John Corzine called Christie fat, a bad driver, and unethical. Christie chose to aim his attacks only at Corzine’s bad policies, not his personal failings.

Even during his acceptance speech, Christie encouraged his supporters to behave with dignity. Check it out:

We need more politicians like Chris Christie–competitors who run an aggressive, full-throttle race without compromising their values in the process.

So when you think of New Jersey, try to remember Chris Christie keeping it classy rather than the prevalent stereotypes of years past: guidos, Jersey mall hair, and Teresa Giudice’s unfortunate table-flipping incident.
