What would politics be without boozy family members slamming into parked cars? Pretty vanilla.

Charlene Lugar, wife of Senator Dick Lugar, was taken to an adult detention facility at around 6:30 p.m. last night on DUI charges.

Here’s how Wonkette put it:

“It’s the holiday season, which means the Northern Virginia suburbs are going to be particularly deadly until January 3 or so, as Republican congresspeople and their drunken wives and rent boys wreak havoc on the icy suburban streets. Congratulations to Charlene Lugar, wife of Republican Senator Dick Lugar, for winning the “First of the Season” award by just crashing into a parked car, because she was (allegedly!) drunk.”

But she’s not the only one.

The second DUI of, what the Wonkette called, “Alco-holidays”, was given to Alexandra Kerry.

She was stopped at about 12:40 a.m. and brought to a Hollywood police station where she was booked and let out on $5,000 bail.
