Saturday, in front of a crowd of 3,000 openly gay Americans, President Obama vowed to overturn DADT–a policy that was implemented in 1993 by Bill Clinton, and has been portrayed by top military leaders as “very effective”.

He acknowledged that many in the gay community believe that change has not come quickly enough; but privately, White House aides reveal that he has no intention of overturning the policy any time soon.

Although Obama has taken steps to include openly gay personnel on his staff, such as John Berry–the head of the Office of Personnel Management, many feel that he hasn’t done enough.

Here are two very different opinions on the subject.
